  • Long Term Elementary Substitute (Maternity Leave)

    We are seeking a Long Term Elementary Substitute (Maternity Leave).
     
    Teachers at Hillel are responsible for planning instructional activities that meet the needs, interests, and abilities of students.     Responsibilities:
    • Implement and support the 1st and 2nd grade curriculum
    • Foster social-emotional growth using Responsive Classroom approach, building a safe community of confident students
    • Plan, prepare and deliver innovative instructional lessons that facilitate active learning experiences. 
    • Integrate the use of technology to provide a variety of educational activities.
    • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, observe, evaluate, encourage, and provide feedback on student's performance and development.
    • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development preparing required reports on students and activities.
    • Manage student behavior in the classroom by developing positive personal relationships and maintaining expectations and procedures. 
    • Address individual learning and work closely with the Student Services team. 
    • Report to lunch and recess duty as required. 
    • Communicate to families about academic, social, and emotional growth.

  • Administrative Assistant - Early Childhood Center

     
    Hillel Day School located in Farmington Hills, Michigan is seeking an  Administrative Assistant for our Early Childhood Center to actively be involved and integrated into the day-to-day functioning of the ECC.  The Administrator is responsible for assisting the ECC team in all areas of operation of the ECC and for maintaining, storing, and organizing all data and files about the ECC. This position will also assist in the main office as needed. 
     
    • Review applications and update the enrollment system for new and withdrawing students
    • Maintain enrollment files and records for all students by State of Michigan licensing requirements.
    • Monitor files to ensure that all necessary forms are completed
    • Develop and maintain, in digital form, ECC enrollment and individual class lists
    • Maintain the ECC roster of the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR)
    • Maintain inventory of ECC consumables
    • Assist teachers with obtaining supplies
    • Assist teachers in classrooms when necessary
    • Assist in developing written communication with parents, including flyers and information for special programs
    • Assist with assembling and distributing enrollment materials for the summer camp program
    • Maintain summer camp enrollment information
    • Monitor summer camp enrollment for necessary forms
    • Maintain billing and payment information for summer camp attendees, including sending invoices when necessary
    • Support the Mission of Hillel Day School 
    • Maintain records for state licensing for the School
    • Handle tasks in the main office as needed
     
    Requirements
     
    Knowledge: 
     
    • Basic language skills, both written and oral
    • Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Goggle Suite
    • State of Michigan Child Care Center Licensing Rules and Regulations
    • Basic familiarity with Jewish religion, holidays, and traditions
    • Basic knowledge of Early Childhood Education 
    Skills:
    • Ability to effectively interact and relate to children in a developmentally appropriate manner.
    • Ability to relate with and speak to parents respectfully and courteously.

  • Middle School Math Learning Specialist

    Description
    The Learning Specialist is a full-time employee managing a caseload of approximately 25 students and reports to the Director of Student Services. This staff person works closely with the Leadership Team and the 7th and 8th grade faculty. The Learning Specialist supports middle school students with learning strategies, organization, and study skills; provides individual and small group instruction as appropriate; follows an MTSS framework; and serves as a resource for staff and families alike. This position will start in August 2024.
     
    Duties and Responsibilities
    •  Provide one-on-one and small-group support/instruction for students, both in push-in and pull-out environments.
    •  Assist classroom teachers in the differentiation of instruction to ensure effective delivery of content to a variety of learners. 
    • Regularly meet with classroom teachers for this collaboration and planning.
    •  Develop Accommodation Plans and Section 504 Plans, with measurable goals and objectives.
    • Regularly collect data to accurately monitor, assess, and report student achievement and progress.
    • Facilitate Learning Lab, as a class, to provide individualized instruction to students that require the highest level of intervention.
    •  Utilize scientifically research-based interventions to promote growth and grade students on report cards.
    • Offer Check-Out, at the end of each day, to assist students with executive functioning, prioritization, and planning.
    • Attend Parent-Teacher Conferences to discuss pupil progress with parents, for student son caseload and to collaboratively present, with classroom teachers, on students supported in the general classroom.
    •  Meet with individual parents, as necessary, to discuss the progress of their children.
    •  Read and summarize all Psychoeducational evaluations for Middle School and for Admissions as necessary.
    • Oversee and ensure the implementation of classroom accommodations.
    • Support teaching staff by offering resources, assistance, advice, and training to enable faculty to better meet the needs of all learners.
    • Develop and maintain communication and documentation protocols related to learning support.
    •  Assume an active role in Student Problem Solving and Planning (SPSP) meetings.
    • Coordinate with outside specialists when necessary, regarding Psychoeducational evaluations, and collaborate with tutors.
    • Assist in organizing and administering standardized testing such as i-Ready and ERB-CTP Testing. Review the resulting data to help identify students who require interventions and/or measure growth of caseload students.
    • Perform other duties as determined by the Director of Student Services.
    Minimum Qualifications
    •  Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field. Master’s degree in Math preferred.
    • At least three years of experience, as a Learning Specialist, or in a related role such as
    • Resource Room Teacher.
    •  Independent school experience preferred.
    • Familiarity with legal responsibilities of independent schools related to IEPs, Nonpublic
    • Service Plans, and 504 plans.
    •  Preferred knowledge of CMP3 and/or other relevant math curricula.
    •  Ability to effectively collaborate with faculty, staff, leadership, and parents.
    •  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Positive attitude, flexible approach, team-centered, and strong values needed.

  • Camp Counselor

    Description
    Hillel Day School located in Farmington Hills, Michigan is seeking Camp Counselors to join our growing camp. In this position you will play a key role in shaping and educating our campers by instructing them on numerous outdoor activities and experience. You will also collaborate with other counselors, create recreational plans and activities and lead campers in fun-filled projects.
     
    Camp Dates: June 17 through August 9, 2024
     
    • Full-time and Part-time positions available
    • Daily hours 8:30am-3:15pm (Monday through Friday)
    • Willingness and ability to work with children ages 2-5 
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a team

  • Kitchen Aide/Prep Worker (Part-time Opening)

    Hillel Day School is seeking a part-time Kitchen Aide/Prep Worker Monday through Friday.
     
     
    Requirements
     
    The Kitchen Aide/Prep Worker performs a variety of routine manual tasks associated with the cleaning of the kitchen and food preparation equipment to ensure the kitchen is clean and operational at all times.
     
    • Handwashing food preparation and serving equipment, utensils, pots, pans, etc.
    • Delivers and stores clean dishes and utensils to proper storage area
    • Cleans kitchen area, tables, cabinets, equipment and disposals of trash and garbage
    • Assists in loading food in disposable containers for carts or trucks for delivery
    • Assist with large catering events as required
    • Performs related kitchen duties as required and assigned
    • Help prep simple components of each dish on the menu by chopping vegetables, cutting mean and preparing sauces.
    • Help with stocking inventory and supplies
    • Able to follow health guidelines by state and local officials
    • Ability to work some weekends (catering)
    • Other duties assigned as required under the Jewish day school guidelines
